                                                NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

                                                What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Medicine is a primary healthcare system that focuses on treating the body as a whole.  Through the use of natural and gentle therapies Naturopathic Medicine integrates the traditional philosophies of heath and disease with current scientific research and modern diagnostic tools. Naturopaths can effectively treat chronic and acute health conditions through the use of herbal medicine, homeopathy, clinical nutrition, diet and lifestyle counseling, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture.  Prevention is a key principle in Naturopathic Medicine, as such strong emphasis is put in creating a treatment plan that not only addresses your current health concerns but also sets the stage for promoting long lasting health.

                                                Who are Naturopathic Doctors?

Naturopathic Doctors are regulated in Ontario through the Board of Drugless Therapies- Naturopathy.  They are recognized as primary health care providers in Ontario.

Training includes minimum three year undergraduate degree in medical pre-sciences, followed by successful completion of a four year Naturopathic Program at an accredited Naturopathic College.  Candidates are required to pass two International Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exams and relevant provincial licensing exams corresponding to regulated provinces.  Naturopathic Doctors are required to stay updated on most recent advances in healthcare and research through continuing education requirements.

Naturopaths are the only regulated health professionals in Canada that are trained in botanical medicine.

Naturopaths are well versed in treating an array of health conditions.  Naturopaths focus on the physiology and the processes behind disease, rather than the pathology itself.
